Filigree is an ancient metalsmithing and jewelry art that dates back over 5000 years! Throughout thousands of years, the tradition of filigree has found its way across oceans... across cultures. It is a mesmerizing art that has connected many, many people! I consider my filigree work to be contemporary or modern filigree -- the methods I use are very traditional, but I do depart from typical filigree with my playful use of asymmetry, negative space, and other contemporary design ideas. My goal is to highlight the stunning texture of shimmer of filigree wire while making the final piece something that is easy to wear, no matter the occasion -- from bopping to the farmers market or dancing the night away at your best friend's wedding -- filigree for every day!
